"The concept of this form of expression is to be able to realize more than one point of view at a time ~ a picture of the way the sub-conscious stores information for your later selection. Everything we see can be taken in many different ways depending on your point of view. What muti-dimensional expressionism attempts to do is to incorporate interrelated ideas in varying degrees of perception and project back onto the sub-conscious a reflection of itself. Multi-dimensional realistic expressionism is the fluid expression of a countour/gesture drawing, refined to essential ingredients and then simplified to it's essential personal self expression. Making your own personal expression an art form unto itself, thereby allowing your own existence and your own personal life to become a work of art ~ by the uninhibited and free flow of the magnitude of your personal love, through the expression of your love. The most significant thing about this genre of expression possible in art is the three dimensional effect, the superimposed drawings of possibilities that exists to the conscious awareness of the mind of the observer. The desired effect is that the work of art becomes a learning device as well as a museum quality work of gallery art. It is simplicity in essence, portraying the essential ingredients of the profoundness of the whole (or the meaning of the whole). With superimposed levels of awareness enhancing each others content with the illusion of alternative imagery between one superimposition over another. Painting is the personal point of view. It comes first, then the words surface to describe the content and thereby give it meaning. Every artist must define themselves and what it means to them to be an artist. This varies widely in a world as vast as ours where art is revered widely, and diversity and design prevail. The more creativity is nurtured the more productive and fruitful are the products of art, producing in the end, women and men of many designs, plans and projects ~ the result of a fruitful mind. The soul is the true avenue of expression of self. Only there can you rely on your own feelings and what things really mean to you. Technique in art should not be technique, but self-expression. The techniques you learn from experience are indelible into your unconscious. The wall between the real you and the one who was conditioned by social indoctrination or the "wonderwall" is only breached through following the truth that comes from the experiment, and not all the things that come from all that you have been told. Technique in it's simplicity is no more than making a commitment to an expression and then following through to the next step and then the next and so on. Until all that you can give is given. Each time improving what you have done before. Ever diligent to be following the right attitude to eventually reach perfection as an end result. This is as true in painting as it is in life. Once the abstraction has been expressed on canvas the concept of steps in a line must cease and be replaced with the concept of completing it from the inside/out, while also completing it from the outside/in. In other words, it must be completed in a general way rather than a specific way. The paintings value is not in the skillful rendering of the details, but can be found in the proportions of the abstractions and their inter-relationships. There is a point when the drawing stops and the painting begins. This decision determines the density of the work. Too much is always too much ~ simplify! It seems that everything is designed to work out perfectly, except for the things we do out of ignorance, which fill our consciousness with apprehension and fear. These things only exist in our imagination ~ and because of this they can be neutralized by our intelligence once we surrender to the real desires that lie hidden in our souls. It's really no more than our own fear of ourselves. Under these conditions the sub-conscious expressions that come out in paint and/or music or writing or any activity that utilizes the creative aspect of the soul, should be made fundamental learning for the young. It should be a conscious part of our heritage rather than a sub-conscious part. Multi-dimensional, realistic, expressionism is the genre I have chosen. The main purpose is to surrender the ego to a great source of light and enlightenment that will illuminate the mind of the sub-sonscious, and can be identified by the minds of those who can open theirs in order to appreciate it's dimension. With these standards in place the artist is at liberty to relax her/his survival anxiety, and allow the sub-conscious flow of imagery to flow from the awareness of the "all", down your arm and out through your brush, where it is completed before you are conscious of it. Like automatic ~ a direct hook up to the neverending awareness that will make up the future. All that we see, use, have, will have, and will want, will all come to an artist to draw it down, so a plan can be made and it can be seen as it will be in the future. The art of drawing is at the source of all learning, history, religion and science since the dawn of man. The artists challenge is a great one, deep with meaning and pathos. All that has gone before and all that will be aspired to in the future will be the expressions in art." ~ Will Stephen |
